Do I have all the documents I need for my trip? What do I need to get a passport? Are our passports up-to-date? Have there been any changes to our passport information?
Before traveling outside the United States these are some of the questions you need to ask and get answers to prior to making your travel reservations. In an effort to strengthen security for all travelers, the U.S. and other governments have instituted stricter passport requirements for entering and re-entering the United States by all means of transportation. AAA Travel advises all travelers to obtain a passport or verify that each traveler's passport is up-to-date. It is the sole responsibility of the passenger to have the proper documentation and identification required by the United States and other governments at time of travel. Some countries may require a visa for entry.
AAA travelers are strongly advised to obtain a passport or renew their passport as soon as you begin to make travel arrangements to avoid processing delays. In most instances, passports must be valid for at least six months after the date of return to the U.S. Updated information can be found on the U.S. Department of State's website: www.travel.state.gov
